The Mulay project is a little 12x14 cottage that was built for the client as a get-a-way space where they can relax, sit by the fire and read a book, or have a nice dinner party setting by the winding little stream. The grotto was built to allow for a quiet place to have tea on a summer morning and watch the hummingbirds chase each other nearby. The cottage has a timber frame roof and porch system, rusted tin, cedar shake roof and cedar siding.
The project is located on a tight lot. The cottage was built at the bottom of the lot with a little path for access. Most of the rockwork was created from larger stones, most of which had to be rolled down the hill using a lever and a rolling log base. This is a cute little cottage that is packed with high end details.
