The Davis project is a typical renovation for the current marketplace. People who have always wanted to renovate a kitchen or a bathroom are taking advantage of the more competitive labor and material pricing. It's also a good idea to renovate now if you are thinking of putting your house on the market in the next three or five years. If you decide to renovate now, you can take advantage of an available workforce and you'll get to enjoy the renovations for a few years yourself. This project consisted of renovation work to the kitchen countertops, new pull-out shelves, apron sink and new faucet, new front door and hardware, new master bath and powder room.
The struggling economy and an unusually snowy winter is making this project difficult. On the surface this project seems simple but the granite company we were dealing with had to close their local shop and manufacture the countertops from their Georgia location, setting back our schedule. The company that makes the door hardware sold the manufacturing to another company and the move delayed the manufacturing of the door hardware that we were changing. The weather has been unusually cold and wintery in North Carolina during this project. With 4 to 8 inches of snowfall nearly once a week, it makes it difficult to get to any site in the mountains.
