Casto Project - Design/Build 2008

Project description

The Casto project consisted of designing a home that would have a master suite and two guest bedrooms on the main level. The house has a doggie room and a doggy shower in the garage. The garage accommodates two cars with a future "man space" above. The living room needed to be vaulted and dramatic with a large rock fireplace and wood storage bin. The kitchen was designed to accommodate the owners frequent dinner parties and she is a great cook.

What made this project difficult?

This project is located on a long gravel road that weaves through a much wooded area. The driveway was approximately 500ft long. Because no power source was available nearby the power line had to be trenched almost 1500ft from the house location in a hard and rocky road. Even though the house looks like the lot is nearly flat, the crawlspace is nearly 15' high in some areas. There were specific association guidelines that needed to be worked through as the construction proceeded to the end.
